Originally two Victorian farm cottages, Portridge house is now an impressive single detached house. Set within the rolling hills of Hampshire, this property nestles on the edge of the Highclere Estate in Old Burghclere, 5 miles from Newbury.
The clients required an new entertaining area at the rear of the house to break up what was a large expanse of unusable block paving. The new area needed defined spaces with clear connection and unity from one area to the next.
Limestone paving was used throughout to connect the new spaces that have been created within this area, the main addition being a double pooled water feature, creating flow and movement.
Simplistic structured plants are then mixed with a traditional herbaceous base to form a planting scheme that is modern yet sits well with the Victorian building.
