Stuart Charles Towner
BA Hon Garden Design
Stuart is a freelance garden designer and RHS consultant. His designs are a meeting point of the old and the new, using traditional materials with contemporary and modern styling for the creation of spaces that sit in perfect harmony with their surroundings. Stuart believes in looking backwards as a way of moving forwards, inspiration from the past informing the future.
Projects range from small domestic roof terraces and gardens to unique commercial and public spaces across the UK, with current projects in Winchester, Gosport, Surrey and Kent.
Stuart has won several industry awards, RHS Silver Gilt 2014 and Gold 2015 at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, alongside winning the coveted Best In Show for Green Seam in 2015, and BALI and APL awards for a walled Georgian garden in Hampshire.
Having done his degree through the Landscape Architecture department at Greenwich University and Garden Design at Hadlow College, Stuart has a unique balance that gives him his flare for design, alongside a firm grounding for the understanding of construction.
To define his style Stuart would say;
"I'm a mixture of Gertrude Jekyll and Frank Lloyd Wright. A modern man seeking new materials and ways to express design, but always with a fundamental traditional undertone running throughout everything I do"
Alongside this, one defining principle that rules Stuart as a designer is;
"The creation of timeless gardens. Its about spaces that embrace the past, live in the present and look to the future. Gardens are not static and will always be changing and need to evolve with the property, client and surrounding landscape"
